Will Insurance pay for a Scooter or Folding Motorized Wheelchair ?
It depends! It will depend upon the medical necessity for using that equipment to get around inside your home, between your bedroom bathroom and kitchen, the insurance generally will allow the least expensive piece of equipment starting with at $10 cane. If it is primarily needed and desired for outside of the insurance will not pay for it.

Gem was a provider for Medicare, Medicaid and many HMOs for 35 years. Seeking to cut costs, Medicare in 2011 awarded contracts only to the lowest bidders in their Competitive Bidding program. Most experts in the industry agree that these policies dramatically reduced access of quality home medical equipment to seniors and the physically challenged community. Gem only sells the highest quality, most reliable equipment available. Therefore, Gem is no longer able to accept insurance.
